On A Silent Night In Bethlehem*

Liturgical Use: Christmas
Text: Thomas Fischer
Tune: The Holly And The Ivy
Suggested Usage: Christmas Eve

“On A Silent Night In Bethl’em”
Tune: “The Holly And The Ivy”

On a silent night in Bethl’em,
When the Lord, our King, was born,
The shepherds stood, watching o’er their sheep,
On that very early morn.
The brilliant star was shining,
Upon that sacred shrine,
Where the Holy Family kneeling there,
‘side the little Child Divine.
The radiant star shone brightly
With glorious beauty bright,
The shepherds ran and as they fled,
Praised their God all through the night.
Oh, Blessed Child of Mary,
To whom all the world will bow,
Brightly shine in us with loves’ pure light
Be within our spirits now.
Hosanna in the highest,
Unto Him all nations sing,
For God incarnate, born tonight,
'Tis our Savior, Christ the King.
